Technology & AI Consultancy

Practical AI and technology support for founders and growing businesses - from automation workflows to systems architecture and hands-on technical strategy.

About This Service

What We Offer

Technology moves fast. Knowing which tools, systems and approaches are actually worth your attention - and which are noise - is where most businesses get stuck. We help founders and growing teams cut through that and make confident, practical decisions about their technology.

Our technology and AI consultancy is led by Michael Jakobsen. Michael works directly with clients on AI workflow design, automation using tools like n8n, internal tooling, systems integration, software architecture and technical strategy. The focus is always on outcomes that matter: reducing manual work, improving delivery speed, and building systems that actually hold up as the business grows.

We work across the full range of a business's technology questions - from 'should we build or buy this?' to 'how do we connect these five systems so the team stops copying things by hand?' Whether you need a technical audit, a roadmap, a working prototype, or ongoing advisory, we work at the level your situation requires.

Professional Services

Automating a Manual Client Onboarding Process

A professional services firm was manually copying client data between three systems every time a new client signed. We mapped the process, built an n8n workflow connecting their CRM, contract tool and project management platform, and eliminated the manual steps entirely.

Results:

Onboarding time reduced from 45 minutes to under 5 minutes per client. No more data entry errors. The team reclaimed roughly 6 hours per week.

Media & Content

AI-Assisted Content Operations

A growing media business needed to process and categorise large volumes of incoming content daily. We designed an AI-assisted pipeline using LLM APIs and n8n to automate categorisation, tagging and routing - with a human review step built in for quality assurance.

Results:

Processing time cut by 70%. Editorial team focused on higher-value decisions rather than manual triage.

Client Feedback

What Our Clients Say

Michael helped us understand which parts of our process could realistically be automated and built it. We stopped wasting time on repetitive data tasks and the whole team noticed the difference immediately.

Sarah Brennan

Founder, Brennan Consulting Group

We needed someone who could look at our technology stack objectively and tell us what to fix, what to replace and what to leave alone. That's exactly what we got.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What does AI consultancy actually involve for a small business?

For most small businesses it means identifying which specific tasks are genuinely automatable, selecting the right tools (not always the most complex ones), and building or configuring workflows that reduce manual effort. It rarely involves building a custom AI model - usually it means connecting existing AI tools into your current processes in a way that actually works.

Do I need to be technical to work with you on this?

No. We work with founders and operators at all levels of technical familiarity. Part of our job is translating technical decisions into plain language so you can make informed choices. You don't need to understand how something is built to understand whether it's worth doing.

We already have a developer. Can you work alongside them?

Yes. We often work as a technical adviser or architect alongside existing developers - reviewing architecture, helping with tooling decisions, providing a second opinion, or taking ownership of a specific workstream while your developer focuses elsewhere.

What automation tools do you work with?

We work primarily with n8n for workflow automation, alongside tools like Make (Integromat), Zapier for simpler integrations, and direct API work where needed. For AI workflows we work with LLM APIs, agent frameworks and purpose-built AI tools depending on the use case.

How long does a typical engagement take?

It depends on scope. A focused technical audit or automation project can be completed in two to four weeks. Ongoing advisory retainers run month to month. We scope each engagement clearly at the start so you know exactly what you're getting and for how long.

We had a bad experience with a previous technology agency. How is this different?

We're not a delivery factory. You work directly with Michael, not a rotating team of juniors. We give honest assessments - including when the answer is 'you don't need this yet' - and we're focused on outcomes for your business, not on selling you more work.

Can you help us evaluate or audit a system a previous developer built?

Yes. Technical audits of existing systems - reviewing code quality, architecture, security, performance and maintainability - are a core part of what we do. We'll give you an honest picture of what you're working with and what, if anything, needs to change.
